Polygraph

The goal of a polygraph test is to track physiological parameters in order to detect whether a specific person is speaking the truth concerning a given event.

In the course of the examination, a large number of physiological parameters are checked.
Changes in the same parameters (individually or combined) in comparison to their relaxed state can indicate that a person is not speaking the truth.

More than all other forensic examinations, a polygraph test depends on the expert.
For a polygraph test, the expert’s quality and experience play a decisive role, both in the course of the examination and as far as the results are concerned.

Even though in criminal cases, polygraph tests are not admissible in court, they serve civil justice and the various investigation services as well as the business and government sectors.

The polygraph test examines the answers of the person tested in relation to the facts only, and not in relation to thoughts or assumptions.

The Institute of Forensic Science carries out polygraph tests in a number of areas:

» The examination of credibility

» Periodic tests

» Cases of criminal investigation

» Cases of family law

The tests at the Institute of Forensic Science are performed in accordance with the rules of ethics and in a number of languages.
